    This is one of the best conversations I have heard around predicting accuracy and WHY. The picture of the three potential nodes. One low, one high and one scatter in the middle. Perhaps it is just evidence of where I am at in my reloading Journey. Keep up the great content!

    I always enjoy watching these interviews and this was no exception. Norm is obviously a great competitor and is pretty dang humble for a guy who holds the national record of 22x and is the only one to shoot a 900 at a match with a V2 match tied to it. I thought he might have shared his thoughts on shooting against his wife at the V2 but perhaps his lawyer negotiated those questions out of the interview. LOL. I also didn’t know there’s a chance for a world V2 - that would be awesome.

    Another great interview. Why not have two rifles for competition? Say a 338 for really windy days? From what I've got out of watching a lot of these podcasts is most want to shoot heavy cals but don't like the punishment. I know you said they bounce all over but I would think on a consistent windy day they would have to do better. For example- your last tournament you showed, extreme heavy winds.

    • @BelieveTheTarget
      @BelieveTheTarget 6 дней назад

      They are hard to manage. The juice is not worth the squeeze. It has been tried with no success. Some shooters have 300 WSM for wind and 7mm for mild wind. No 338’s

    Another great video guys thank you . Have either of you thought about doing an air gun challenge ? Did you know that the Rocky Mountain Air gun Challenge payed $20,000 for 1st , $10,000 for 2nd , and $5,000 for third in five different categories ?. You can check it out on RUclips . Utah air puts it on and it is a world class event . Shooters from all around the world shooting all kinds of guns , non of them cheep . Yes they have a big bore class .30 cal and up I think . You would be surprised at how well the pcp air rifle stacks up in accuracy to powder burners . You have the discipline and the heart , now how about the will . It's a very competitive world but you grew up in that so put your wind reading to work and play the game . There is several other shoots all across the United States and Europe . The history of the air rifle is cool to considering they have been around longer than powder burners .

    How can cut rifling be more consistent that hammer forged? If your mandrel is consistent in a properly set up hammer forged barrel making system, the barrel is going to be the exact same, right? I know the interviewee here works for Bartlein (who does make very nice barrels) but I think he's biased. I love Bartlein barrels. However the claim that single point cut process produces the most consistent twist, simply lacks grounds to warrant the claim. He just says it is so.

    59:29 Theory: Seating depth changes extreme spread because it's changing burn time and psi before bullet leaves case and hits the rifling, with everything else equal. The usable case volume is changing with seat depth changes. This extra volume creates a deadband or shock absorber, evens out the psi from slightly different charge weights. No gap magnifies any powder variation and e.s. goes up. The static force (psi) to start the bullet moving into the chamber rifling is more than the kinetic force to keep it moving down the barrel. (Maybe?) These 2 forces will balance smoother with the ideal headspace, and powder differences get evened out in the barrel instead of a hard initial hit that sends big harmonics and shocks the barrel, inconsistent es. Just thinking out loud.

    I bet Jadenis from the San luis valley. If so what town I grew up their and hunted Prarie dog and coyote to prong and elk. Great Info. The 6.5 CM in an rpr changed my view on target shooting. I love my 308, been hand loading for years and would suggest it to anyone/everyone but im building my 1st action up bolt gun and I chose the 300wsm but after looking at having to building it in a LA then having to spec the chamber for the "heavies" then having go rem700 footprint for chassis availability... I ended up on 300prc. To some of the points in this video ( time money other resources) I chose the Hornady chambering. The same way I wanted for years to build a 7saum ill end up building a 7prc instead. I'd love to build the saum and wsm but I have limited funds and I consider myself lucky to even be able to build a rifle. Thanks to both Jaden and Erick for the info.

    Little late to the party here. Just my thought on the group shot count. I would consider Eric's 2,3,5 shot "groups" are just an extension of the groups shot previously with the same load. That might be over 10k rounds of reference. My thought is probably clear as mud..... Great info from both of you. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge!

    'Perfect' rifle stock has been made for many years, Rigby, Purdey you name them... I collect Mausers from the 1898-1935 and heres the bottom line... Stock making requiers knowledge of type of wood, setting out (grain lines in fital areas of the stock ) to suit calibre , craftsmanship ... and these are all natural wood stocks (mainly English, French, European and Turkish wallnut), no laminates and these stocks have been everywhere in the world for hundreds of years... FAAAAR more important for competitions shooting is the barrel quality and action alignment, chambering etc etc etc ...as far as breaking stocks we hunt (and I am from Africa) for many many years in all conditions rain, wind , dust, bush, mud etc etc and neither me nor any of my friends have ever broken a stock, it all starts with traditional stock making by EXPERIENCED and HIGHY skilled stockets.

    All that and the Lee APP press does a more consistent job of seating primers for almost 1/6th the cost. The CPS does give full control over a wider range primer depth settings. So God put him hear to mentor shooting? Does that mean he's God's gift to shooting?

    Excellent interview! Learned a couple new things which is always exciting. Carpet gate is hilarious! Obviously not his fault after he asked for it to to be checked into. I can see why people would complain because carpet has rows which would work like grooves, but if 40% of the people are doing it one shouldn't be singled out. Thanks so much to both of you for sharing your knowledge!
